Lounge22's commitment to design is distinguished by its respect for and engagement in environmental practices. We understand that change happens one step at a time - from adopting more intelligent strategies to implementing logistical and manufacturing practices that minimize impact on the environment - we are taking steps to do our part in helping to bring positive change to the events and exhibit industries.
An Intelligent Approach
Intelligent design breeds efficiency. When designing a piece of furniture we are not only considering how it looks and functions - we are designing to streamline fabrication, to expedite assembly, to reduce the products total weight. We design furniture to maximize responsible materials. We componetize our designs to facilitate easy and localized repair.
Steps we take to make a difference
Most importantly, we build our products to last. We invest the time, energy, and resources into building a superior product. When things last longer, they spend less time in the landfill. It's common sense and it's the least we can do for the planet. For those interested in sound-bytes, here are a few points to latch on to:
- We don't import our product - we build them - here in the USA.
- We build our products to last!
- We do not use animal products in our design. Leather tanning is a high-impact, high-waste producing industry.
- We do not chrome our metals - we hand polish! Hexavalent chromium is toxic to humans and not good for the planet.
- We use vegetable based foam in our cushions.
- We use Sustainably Forested lumber in our framing.
- We don't use plastic wrap to store or ship.
- Our products are light-weight to help reduce the carbon impact during transporting.
- We are constantly trying to incorporate new and responsible raw materials, like bamboo or even recycled paper!
